Specialist Disability Accommodation NDIS Support in Melbourne

Advice Care supports participants and families to understand Specialist Disability Accommodation, housing needs, tenancy goals and safe accommodation pathways.

Specialist Disability Accommodation Support

Specialist Disability Accommodation, also known as SDA, is a type of NDIS-funded housing support for eligible participants with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. SDA is designed to provide suitable housing that helps participants live more safely, access the right support and build greater independence.

Advice Care understands that accommodation decisions can be complex and stressful for participants and families. Participants may need support to understand housing options, daily living needs, tenancy responsibilities, home safety, support arrangements and the type of living environment that best suits their goals.

Our role is to provide practical support, clear communication and person-centred guidance. We work with participants, families, carers, support coordinators and other providers where consent is provided. Support is based on the participant’s NDIS plan, goals, preferences, risks and accommodation needs.

Person-Centred Accommodation Support

SDA and accommodation support should always be centred around the participant. Advice Care aims to understand the participant’s living goals, support needs, safety concerns, communication style, family input and personal preferences. This helps support better planning and more suitable accommodation outcomes.

We understand that moving into a new home or exploring SDA options can feel overwhelming. Participants and families may need clear information, time to consider options and support to communicate with different services. Advice Care provides calm, respectful and practical support throughout this process.

Supporting Safe and Suitable Accommodation Pathways

Advice Care aims to provide SDA and accommodation-related support in a safe, respectful and reliable way. Before support begins, we aim to understand the participant’s current living situation, support needs, risks, communication needs, accessibility needs, daily routines and long-term goals.

SDA support may connect with many other NDIS supports. For example, a participant may need accommodation and tenancy support, daily tasks and shared living support, personal care, household tasks, transport assistance, community nursing or community participation. These supports may work together to help the participant live safely and with greater independence.

We also understand that accommodation needs can change over time. A participant may need different support after a hospital stay, during a family change, after a plan review, or when moving into a new home. Advice Care can review support arrangements and work with the participant’s support network where consent is provided.

Our goal is to help participants feel safe, respected and supported in their living environment. We provide practical accommodation-related support with genuine care, while respecting the participant’s right to make choices about their home, support and daily life.
